He worked throughout New Zealand as a journalist before travelling to other countries and working on newspapers in Australia, Britain and East Africa. He returned to New Zealand in 1969 and retired from journalism in 1996. When he first heard the name of Frank Worsley he was disappointed to discover that no book had ever been written about this exceptional fellow-countryman.
